PRESIDENT'S
TROPHY - COMPETITION RULES 1. The President's Trophy
competition is open to representative teams drawn from all first division
(or sole division) clubs of constituent leagues of the MQL. 2. A team
shall draw its players only from teams currently making up that division.
No player may appear in both President's Trophy and President's Shield
competitions in the same season. 3. Each team must nominate a Team
Secretary, who will take responsibility for all administrative matters
relating to the team. 4. Matches will be played on a league basis, with
each team playing every other team twice during the season, home and
away 5. Matches will be played in accordance with the match rules of
the MQL on the dates specified for that season. Any variation to these
dates will only be possible with the consent of both team secretaries and
the ratification of the competition secretary, although the MQL Council
reserves the right to amend the fixture list. 6. Match scoresheets MUST
be forwarded to the competition secretary in accordance with Rule 31 of
the MQL. Failure to do so will incur a fine as specified in Rule 31. 7.
Question sets will be provided and distributed by competing teams in
accordance with the rota included in the annual fixture list. 8. Teams
failing to conform with the above rules will be liable to such penalty as
the MQL Council deems necessary
PRESIDENT'S SHIELD - COMPETITION
RULES 1. The President's Shield competition is open to representative
teams from all divisions of the constituent leagues of the MQL EXCEPT
first (or sole) division. 2. A team shall draw its players only from
teams currently making up that division, except that, at its discretion,
the MQL Council may permit a team to represent (and draw its players from)
more than one division. 3. Each team must nominate a Team Secretary,
who will take responsibility for all administrative matters relating to
the team. 4. Matches will be played on a league basis, with each team
playing every other team twice during the season, home and away 5.
Matches will be played in accordance with the match rules of the MQL, and
on the dates specified for that season. Any variation to these dates will

FEENY CUP 1. Entry to this competition is open to teams finishing first,
second or third in the First Division of each of the constituent leagues
of the MQL. 2. Matches will be played on the dates specified in the
fixture list and will be played in accordance with the rules of the MQL.
Rule 54 applies to any team failing to fulfil a fixture. 3. It is the
responsibility of the WINNING TEAM to forward the match score sheet to the
competition Secretary within three days of the match. Failure to do so
will render the winning team, liable to penalties under Rule 31. 4.
Each constituent league will be required to supply one ten round question
set, as specified by the Competition Secretary. Each set must be sent to
the Competition Secretary IN A SEALED ENVELOPE BY A MINIMUM OF TWO WEEKS
BEFORE THE COMPETITION BEGINS. The Competition Secretary has the right to
require the rewriting of any or part of any set which is deemed
unsuitable. In the event of the Competition Secretary being involved in
one of the teams participating in the Competition, these tasks will be
delegated to a colleague from a team not involved in the
competition. 5. Teams failing to conform to the rules of the
competition will be liable to such penalty at the MQL Council deems
necessary.
RENDON CUP 1.
Entry to this competition is open to teams finishing first or second in
all divisions excepting the First Division of each of the constituent
leagues of the MQL. 2. Matches will be played on the dates specified in
the fixture list and will be played in accordance with the rules of the
MQL. Rule 54 applies to any team failing to fulfil a fixture. 3. It is

will render the winning team, liable to penalties under Rule 31. 4.

the Competition Secretary a minimum of two weeks before the Round in which
it is due to be played. The Competition Secretary has the right to require
the rewriting of any or part of any Set which is deemed unsuitable. In the
event of the Competition Secretary being involved in one of the teams
participating in the Competition, these tasks will be delegated to a
colleague from a team not involved in the competition. 5. Teams failing
to conform to the rules of the competition will be liable to such penalty
at the MQL Council deems necessary.
MERSEYSIDE CHALLENGE CUP AND MQL
PLATE 1. Entry to the Merseyside Challenge Cup is open to any teams
registered as members of the MQL subject to Rule 35 of the MQL. The
initial stage of the competition shall be played on a league basis. Each
league shall consist of no more than four teams, the composition of such
leagues to be decided by Council. 2. Each team shall play against
the other teams in its league on dates and at venues to be decided by
Council and in accordance with MQL Rules. Rule 35 applies to any team
failing to fulfil a fixture. 3. At the completion of the
leagues the top two teams will go forward to the Merseyside Challenge Cup
and the other teams will be entered in the Plate Competition. The normal
rules for knockout competitions under MQL auspices will then apply. Teams
failing to fulfil any fixture in the initial stage of the competition
without good reason will, if necessary, be excluded from participating in
the Plate Competition. 4. Positions within the league will be determined on the basis of
points gained, cumulative points difference and where two teams are level,
on the result of the match between those teams in the league. Should no
decision still be reached the result shall be achieved by the drawing of
lots. Forfeited fixtures will be allocated an appropriate notional match
score by the Competition Secretary. 5.It is the responsibility of
the WINNING TEAM to forward the match score sheet to the Competition
Secretary within three days of the match. Failure to do so will render the
winning team, liable to penalties under Rule 31. Such penalties are likely
to include the offending team having to play away from home in the next
round of the competition. 6. Each constituent league will
be required to supply one or two ten round question sets, as specified by
the Competition Secretary. Each set must be sent to the Competition

played. The Competition Secretary has the right to require the rewriting
