Mastermind Champion 2005
BBC2 - 8th November

Pat Gibson (Old Dog, Ormskirk League)

Congratulations to Pat Gibson on becoming the 2005 Champion of BBC TV's Mastermind.

His specialist subjects were:
Round One - Films directed by Quentin Tarantino
Semi-Final - 'Culture' Novels of Iain M Banks
Final - Father Ted

Pat started the series off in convincing style in a very strong heat which included Anthony Martin, formerly of the Ormskirk League. In the semi-final he triumphed with a very impressive score of 35. The final was a closer run thing, after the specialist round Pat was in joint first place with 17 points. He was in the fortunate position of going last in the general knowledge round, knowing that he had a score of 28 to beat.
